Mission Statement
We are a Catholic/Christian based mission located in the Chapare jungles of Bolivia, South America you can read more about why, where and what we do in the founders letter on our web site's Projectangelsofhope.org home page link. Our mission is to help the people we serve, our neighbors, the Chapare inhabitants (98% Catholics) not with a hand out but with a hand up, furthermore we utilize the Church, sports and events to help create community (read our unique problem also on our home page of the web site) and to further our work to help our neighbors out of the desperate poverty that they are in.
Here listed are some of the objectivesof our mission:
To teach basic life skills,
To Implement basic education in Hygiene and Nutrition,
To support basic education in all the community schools,
To provide a safety net of food medical and emergency needs so that progress that is made will not be severely impeded,
To always make emergency resources available,
To be proactive rather than reactive,
To always search out new ways to accomplish these tasks always respecting the religion of their choice and their way of life.
When we started (1998)
In order to help, we began by conducting a thorough study, one family at a time, using a nurse, translator, and guide. We attended local union meetings to listen to their needs. We made records of all we found in each region, village and family. While the study was underway, we began the reconstruction of community buildings, which are now used as our school, chapel and medical clinic. We repaired roofs, bathrooms, kitchens and classrooms. These tasks, thanks to adequate funding, were accomplished by January 2001. Only in February of 2006 did we start asking for volunteers which has allowed us to create different programs to help solve more of the regions many problems.
Long Term Goals
Putting into practice what we have learned through our continuing surveys and studies. We will follow the needs of the local people and attend to those needs always working with the local community leaders. To continue to support and aid in any way we can the education process in the communities we serve. Realizing that the children are the future and by feeding the bodies and minds of the children we will be creating future opportunities that will help these people save themselves. Always respecting and utilizing their Religion, their sports events and there way of life to further their plight that we believe is clearly attainable.
