Mission and Vision
In 1998 the Marroquin family left Austin Texas to begin a mission in the Chapare jungle of Bolivia. Their hope is to create awareness of the responsibility we have to the poor. The Marroquins also believe education is the key to improving ones life. It is a process that deeply affects individuals and communities as a whole. It is where charity becomes justice.
Why Bolivia
Bolivia is home to the world’s poorest people, and we recognize that pain and suffering has no borders (Ad Gentes). Most rural Bolivians earn less than $55 a month. Most children cannot complete their elementary education for economic reasons. Preventable diseases such as diarrhea, yellow fever, and malnutrition, kill both children and adults. Life expectancy is only 42 years. It doesn’t have to be this way. |

Who Are The Marroquins?

The Marroquins are lay missionaries, formerly active in both the St. Theresa and St. Louis parishes of Austin, Texas.
Their concern is the poorest of the poor, particularly the little ones.
Their inspiration:
"Anyone who welcomes a child like this in my name welcomes Me." —Matthew 18:5

What ´the Angels of Hope' Does
In living among the people of the Chapare, we reach out to the poor who have few educational opportunities and are almost totally isolated from pastoral care. We are building community and consciousness. We visit families regularly, encourage school attendance, with tutoring and school supplies, and help individuals and the community as much as humanly possible. There is so much to done in the Chapare and so many challenges! |

Why The Marroquin Family Does This Work
They feel a call to do this work and they love doing it. They want to pass on to others the light and joy of faith and education. They believe that everyone must be educated, and they want to help make that happen. They believe in miracles and cannot be content when they consider the millions of our brothers and sisters live in such desperate conditions.
