The Rivers

Two rivers come together at the outside of Villa Tunari.

Due to the daily rainfall, the riverbank is constantly changing.

This bridge actually washed away two years ago.  When heavy rainstorms come through, the water level rises dramatically.  In fact, the water covered the entire area as it rose 9 meters.  The bridge going out was a huge tragedy as it happened during the evening time and people were unable to see the there was no bridge in front of them.  Many people died and it took over a year to rebuild.

There are several spots where the river makes ninety degree turns.  At this particular point, the river is directed into the mountain before it swirls around and heads in another direction.  This kind of abuse to the mountain will eventually cause massive erosion.

This tree was washed up after a huge rainstorm.  Thunder so loud and lightening so bright...it was terrifying!  The whole area above was covered by several meters of water after this storm.

The river bank is a wonderfu place to collect building materials.  Rocks for foundation and sand for cement.
